AudioCatalyst is hands down one of the more powerful MP3 encoder programs. If you'd like to feature great digital music on your web site, this is a good place to start. It virtually rips tracks off of music CDs and sends them to a file on your hard drive. The program is a marriage between the Audiograbber and XingMP3 encoder programs. This ensures that audio files are as small as can be but maintain the quality of its original source.

I was most impressed with the program's speed. Sometimes you have to wait up to 15 minutes to encode a three-minute track. AudioCatalyst will go through the entire process in a fraction of that time. The program should be ready to go once you download and install it. If not, there are plenty of CD-ROM and encoding configurations to maximize the experience. AudioCatalyst will automatically recognize your CDs and its tracks inside. Using the now ubiquitous CDDB database, you can load album information via the Internet.
The download you'll receive here has only a few restrictions. You can't convert WAVE files to MP3 and encoding can only be done at 128Kbit/s. You also cannot encode all of the tracks on your CD, only a randomly selected set.
